AUGUSTA — The order of bond questions on the November ballot in Maine is being determined by a drawing.
Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap is holding the public drawing Friday at the Nash School Building in Augusta.
The $149.5 million bond package was approved Thursday by the Maine Legislature, which met in special session. The biggest of the bonds would be used for higher education to expand and upgrade buildings and classrooms to meet growing demand. The bonds package also includes $100 million for roads, bridges, ports and rail projects.
Maine law requires people’s veto questions to go first, followed by citizen initiatives and bond questions. This time, there are only bonds on the statewide ballot.
