117th Annual Alumni Association reunites

SKOWHEGAN — The 117th annual reunion of the Easton/Norridgewock High School Alumni Association was held in July at the Centenary United Methodist Church. The reunion honored the founding of the Hamlin F. Eaton Boarding and Day School in 1866 in Norridgewock.

An earlier, outdated version of George Smith’s column (“The Native Conservative: Keeping water clean is cheaper than cleaning it after it’s polluted”) ran in the Wednesday edition of the Kennebec Journal and Morning Sentinel. GOP creating needless crisis over debt ceiling

If Republicans obstruct the debt ceiling increase, they will create a needless crisis, and they should be held accountable in the 2014 elections. While there are debt and deficit issues, the debt is not too high, the debt is going down, and the long-range problems are being addressed in a balanced and bipartisan way.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL: Banged up Maine prepares for opener

Justin Perillo is the only player from Maine to receive preseason all-conference honors in the Colonial Athletic Association, but he remained on the sideline during Tuesday afternoon’s second and final intrasquad scrimmage. Joining him were half a dozen other players with minor injuries or ailments, a simple fact of football life.
