In recent news articles, the A-F grading system, which was just implemented, has been perceived in a negative light. I am intrigued to see the results from this system after it has had some time to be put into effect. Many of the administrators quoted in the articles agree that it is nice to have all of the information in one database. So what is the problem?
As a parent, I believe that the A-F grading system will help schools identify and share best practices. By letting parents like myself know how schools are performing we are creating a system that is transparent and holds schools accountable for their results. We all want a quality education for our children. I think that this is a definite step in the right direction to address some of the problems facing our public school system today. Let’s give the A-F grading a chance to work.
