LITCHFIELD — A Litchfield woman was injured today when her sport utility vehicle crashed into a guardrail on Center Road.

Judith Bourget, 74, suffered what were believed to be non life-threatening cuts and abrasions in the crash, said Sgt. Michael Pion of the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office. Bourget was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, believed to be Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.

The crash occurred around 9:20 a.m., as Bourget drove her Toyota Rav 4 east on Center Road. Bourget lost control of the SUV near the Interstate 95 overpass and crossed the center line. The Toyota went across the west-bound lane and struck a guardrail, Pion said. The impact broke off the driver’s side front wheel. The car came to rest in the middle of the road.

Pion is unsure what caused Bourget to lose control of the vehicle. The investigation is ongoing.

“I don’t think speed or alcohol were factors,” he said.
