NEWPORT — The Nokomis field hockey team rallied with two unanswered goals to beat Gardiner 2-1 in a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B game Friday.

Trailing 1-0, Mikayla Pelkey and Meaghan Lovley each scored unassisted goals to give Nokomis (2-0-0) the win.

Kendra Underhill made five saves.

Madeline Reny opened the scoring with an unassisted goal for Gardiner (1-1-0). Emalee Couture stopped six shots.

Winslow 4, Brewer 0: The Black Raiders scored two goals in each half on their way to a KVAC B win in Winslow.

Sarah Wildes and Bethany Lovely scored in the first half to give Winslow a 2-0 lead. Brittany White and Brooke Haskell added second half goals. Ciera Poulin and Mackenzie Winslow each had an assist.

Brooke Richard had 15 saves for Brewer, while Delaney Wood had two saves for Winslow, which outshot Brewer 27-2.


Waterville 3, Camden Hills 1:
Olivia Lopes had a goal and an assist as the Purple Panthers defeated the Windjammers in Waterville.

Gaby Bridger and Anna Ramgren also scored for Waterville, (1-0), while Jena Nawfel, Dana Plourde, and Juliana Venagas each had one assist.

Rachael Bergeron made four saves for the win.

Abbie Bragg had the goal for Camden Hills (0-2), and Desi Dodd finished with five saves.

Leavitt 1, Mt. View 0: Kristen Leclerc scored with 15:20 to play in the first half as the defending Clss B state champions held off the Mustangs in Thorndike.

Emily Snow assisted on the goal, and Addie Gagnon made two saves for Leavitt (2-0). Annie Castonguay added a defensive save.

Lily Logiodice made one save in goal and Caitlyn Poulin had a defensive save for Mt. View (0-2).

MCI 6, Maranacook 0: Haley Tibbetts had two goals as the Huskies shut out the Black Bears in a KVAC B game in Pittsfield.

Cassie Miller, Kali Dorion, Paige Larochelle and Heidi Duncombe also scored, while Katie George had two assists for MCI (2-0-0).
