Just think how many American lives could have been saved and how much money our country could have saved if instead of going to war against Adolf Hitler for his attempts to eliminate Jews and other “undesirables,” we just sat on the sidelines and watched.

Sounds abhorrent, doesn’t it? Well, that’s what this country is starting to sound like as we dream up reasons to not support President Barack Obama in launching a military strike against President Bashar al-Assad of Syria for his use of sarin gas on his own people. Hitler was a barbarian, and so is Assad.

Is it in America’s interest to save the lives of Syrian children from being gassed to death by a barbarian? Was it in American’s interest to spend money and shed American blood to stop Hitler from eliminating Jews and others from the face of the planet?

Doing what is right is in America’s best interest. Having character comes at a cost.

Supporting Obama on this issue is a first for me. I have not supported him at all in five years. This is one time he has it right.

If we sit on the sidelines and just watch the Syrian barbarian gas to death his own people, especially the children, as a country one day we will reap what we sow.
