AUGUSTA — Traffic backed up on Interstate 95 northbound near exit 112 should clear soon, as a Maine Department of Transportation crew ceases work in the area.

The workers were repairing joints on the Bond Brook bridge, department spokesman Ted Talbot said.  They closed the left lane on the northbound side starting at 7 a.m. and ending shortly after 1:30 p.m.

Traffic was backed up for most of the day — sometimes at a standstill — reaching as far back as exit 109.
