SIDNEY — The Sidney Historical Society sponsored a Farm Day for those in first through fourth grades on Sept. 17 at James H. Bean School.

The farmers who took part were Jeff and Kathy Bragg, owners of the Rainbow Valley Organic Dairy Farm, Harland and Shirley Bragg, owners of the Rainbow Valley Vegetable Stand, Wayne and Patty Bragg, owners of the Bragg Homestead Organic Dairy Farm, and Dennis and Sharon Tilton, owners of the Homestead Vegetable Stand. Other members of the Sidney Historical Society helped with the presentations.

There were six stations, all with hands-on activities for the children: milking cows and the milk room, sap house making maple syrup and vegetable garden, calves, their care and feeding. There also was a PowerPoint presentation about life on the farm years ago, examining and explaining old tools, vegetables from garden to canning and sampling.
