MANCHESTER — The Rev. Dr. Jack L. Daniel has been named the new pastor of Manchester Community Church, 21 Readfield Road.

A Massachusetts native, Daniel graduated from Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy, Mass., and received his master of divinity degree from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in Hamilton, Mass. He is an ordained United Church of Christ pastor and also has a doctor of ministry degree in pastoral counseling and clinical studies from Andover-Newton Theological School.

Previously, he served as senior pastor of the Free Christian Church (Congregational) of Andover/North Andover, Mass., for 35 years. Now living on Pleasant Pond in Richmond, Daniel is also involved in several mentoring initiatives to equip and encourage pastors in small Maine churches, according to a news release from the church. He and his wife Kathy, a freelance editor of science curriculum materials, raised three daughters, now married.

He succeeds Pastor Donald S. Davenport, who recently retired after four years at the Manchester church and 44 years of pastoral ministry.
