I want to thank Rep. Lori Fowle, D-Vassalboro, and Sen. John Patrick, D-Oxford, for sponsoring L.D. 169, which supports veterans of Maine.

This bill gives disabled American veterans transportation network $15,000 to help support its program. As the cost to maintain a vehicle gets more expensive, more veterans rely on DAV transportation to get to Togus VA for medical treatments. These funds will help maintain our fleet of 15 vans scattered across the state.

We are always looking for volunteer drivers to drive the vans. If you would like to volunteer, just call DAV transportation network or the voluntary service office at Togus. Veterans without a license or vehicle would not be able to make their medical appointments without this transportation network. Also thank you to all the volunteer drivers we presently have taking care of our veterans.
