WATERVILLE — A College Avenue man charged with a motor vehicle burglary this morning could face additional charges in connection with other car break-ins.
Ryan Guimond, 22, of 148 College Ave., was arrested after he left one car and tried to open a locked vehicle on Pleasant Street before running off, police said.

A resident called police at 4:30 a.m. when he noticed a man getting out of a Ford Explorer and trying to break into a locked vehicle before running away, Deputy Chief Charles Rumsey said. Police contacted the woman whose Ford Explorer was broken into, and she said that a couple of checks made out to her were missing.
Officers went to the location and found Guimond walking north at 5:30 a.m. on College Avenue on the Colby Street overpass. When officers searched him, they found a check with the woman’s name on it in his pocket, Rumsey said. Guimond was charged with a misdemeanor count of burglary of a motor vehicle and was taken to the Kennebec County jail, where he was unable to post $150 cash bail.
Rumsey said the Waterville Police Department is continuing the investigation into Guimond to see if he is responsible to any other motor vehicle break-ins.
Guimond has a court appearance scheduled for Dec. 3 in Waterville District Court.
