AUGUSTA — Kennebec Technologies will be honored Friday with the Maine Manufacturing Extension Partnership’s 2013 Manufacturer of the Year award.

The Augusta-based company manufactures complex high-precision components for aerospace, defense, alternative energy, medical, semi-conductor and telecommunications applications, according to a news release about the award from Maine MEP.

The Manufacturer of the Year award is given each year to a Maine company that demonstrates leadership, vision and manufacturing excellence, according to the release. The Maine award is presented in conjunction with National Manufacturing Day, a nationwide celebration of manufacturing.

The award will be presented by Maine Economic and Community Development Commissioner George Gervais to the company at 1 p.m. Friday at its Church Hill Road facility.

Maine MEP, a program of the Maine Department of Economic and Community Development and an affiliate of the U.S. Department of Commerce, is part of a national network that provides business and technical assistance to smaller manufacturers in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.
