FARMINGTON — University of Maine at Farmington President Foster and local and state dignitaries will conduct a ceremony commemorating the 150th anniversary of the signing of the University’s charter at 10 a.m. Wednesday at various locations on the UMF campus on the front steps of historic Merrill Hall.

Following the ceremony, a picnic luncheon, open to all, will be provided outside of the Emery Community Arts Center. Other activities include the dedication of the senior class time capsule, a ribbon-cutting ceremony to unveil the completed community service project restoring Abbott Park to its former beauty and evening receptions with lively art and performances at Emery Community Arts Center and the UMF Art Gallery.

The schedule events are as follows: ribbon cutting at Abbott Park, 10 a.m.; Charter Ceremony on steps of Merrill Hall, 11:45 a.m.; Campus and Community Picnic Lunch at Emery Community Arts Center, 12:30 p.m.; Senior Time Capsule on the Merrill Lawn, 2:30 p.m.; receptions at UMF Art Gallery and Emery Community Arts Center, 5 p.m.
