Congressional benefits include free health care the rest of their lives, along with outrageous retirement packages, 67 paid holidays, three weeks paid vacation, unlimited paid sick days. And don’t forget all the free overseas fact-finding tours (vacations) they take every year. I think they have to serve only one term to get full retirement plus all the other perks that go with this job.

Now that’s what I call being on welfare. And they have the nerve to call our Social Security retirement a “federal benefit payment”? Didn’t all seniors have to work 30 or 40 years to get this “federal benefit payment”?

How can these people sleep at night, and yet, we keep electing them year after year.

This is my last letter to the editor, as I retire from letter writing. I have to say I have enjoyed it over the years.

By the way, the very few bad comments that I have received over the years have helped me understand the meaning of “free speech.” And they were more than offset by the many good comments that I have received on the Internet and mostly on the street. Thanks to all my readers.
