SALEM — Mt. Abram scored four straight goals to overcome a one-goal deficit and beat Spruce Mountain 4-1 in a Mountain Valley Conference boys soccer game Friday afternoon.

Adam Gettle scored in the first half to give Spruce Mountain a 1-0 lead. Bryson Walker scored from Gerardo Rio before the end of the half to tie it for Mt. Abram (9-2-0). Arthur Ryan, Colin McCarthy-Edwards and Walker also scored in the second half. Walker added an assist and Tristen Dyer had seven saves.

Dustin Jones had 14 saves for Spruce Mountain.

Carrabec 4, Mountain Valley 0: The Cobras scored four second-half goals on their way to an MVC win over the Falcons in Rumford.

Nicholas Sansone Jr., Dustin Crawford, Colby Fortin and Seth Burns all scored for Carrabec (4-4-2), while Will Crawford had two assists and Spencer Sidell and Paul Kaplan each had one. Trent Richardson stopped eight shots to earn the shut out.

Dakota Jacques had 32 saves for Mountain Valley (3-9-0).


Cony 3, Skowhegan 1: Bronson Kieltyka, Juan Dogre and Connor Perry each had a goal as the Rams beat the Indians in a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A game in Skowhegan.

Anthony Paul scored the lone goal for Skowhegan (0-11-0).

Cony is now 3-8-0.

Messalonskee 3, Oxford Hills 1: Dylan Burton had a goal and an assist to lead the Eagles to the KVAC A win in Oakland.

Elija Tuell and Eric Van Der Karr also scored for Messalonskee (5-4-2). Jonah Webb had seven saves.

Luke Davidson scored on a penalty kick for Oxford Hills (3-8-0).


Mt. View 4, MCI 0: The Mustangs scored three times in the first half to beat the Huskies in a KVAC B game in Pittsfield.

Joey Danna, Vittorio Frascolino and Kyle Crowell scored in the first half for Mt. View (5-5-1). Brandon Reynolds scored a goal in the second half. Nathan Wren and John Piotti each had an assist for the Mustangs and Mikey Hustus had three saves.

Charlie Moriarty had nine saves for MCI (1-10-0).

Girls soccer

MCI 3, Mt. View 1: The Huskies scored twice in the first half and beat the Mustangs in a KVAC B game in Thorndike.

The Huskies (4-7-0) took a 1-0 lead on an own goal less than a minute into the first half, then made it 2-0 when Ashley Alton scored from Hannah Emery about six minutes later. Caitlin Tozier scored with Emery earning another assist in the second half for MCI. Ryleigh Lord had seven saves.


Nichole Schofield scored from Meri Picard and Logan Basford had seven saves for Mt. View (1-9-1).

Cony 5, Skowhegan 0: Hayley Quirion had two goals and an assist to lead the Rams to the KVAC A win in Augusta.

Annie Brannigan, Kassidy Turgeon and Emily Quirion also scored for Cony (6-5-1). Emily Quirion also had two assists. Autumn Sudsbury made four saves.

Shawna Quimby stopped nine shots for the Indians (0-11-0).

Field hockey

Mt. View 2, Brewer 0: Kersey Boulay and Braley Leadbetter scored goals as the Mustangs beat the Witches in a KVAC B game Thursday.

Dinah Bilodeau had six saves for Mt. View (9-4-0). Brooke Richards stopped seven shots for Brewer (5-8-0).
