AUGUSTA — Good Shepherd Food Bank officials say they will distribute around 7,000 pounds of food to people in need Friday morning in Augusta.

From 10 a.m. to noon, the food bank’s food mobile will be at the pavilion at Mill Park, off Northern Avenue.

Anyone in need in the Augusta Food Bank’s service area and the surrounding area is welcome to attend and get food, according to a news release from Good Shepherd Food Bank.

Available food is expected to include fresh produce, meat, nonperishable items and bread.

The food availability was made possible through funding from the Doree Taylor Foundation. It’s designed to be a barrier-free distribution and part of the organization’s efforts to visit communities where the demand for emergency and supplemental food has outgrown the capacity of local food pantries, according to the news release.

Good Shepherd Food Bank is a statewide hunger relief organization that distributes food to more than 600 partner agencies.
