FARMINGDALE — Katie George scored two goals to lead No. 9 Maine Central Institute to a 3-2 win against No. 8 Hall-Dale in an Eastern Maine Class C field hockey tournament prelim game Saturday.
Shanay Gilbert gave the host Bulldogs a 1-0 lead with a goal eight minutes into the game. The Huskies came back for a pair of goals before the half, the first from Haley Tibbetts assisted by Cassie Miller.
George made it 2-1 with Heidi Duncombe drawing the assist. George put MCI ahead 3-1 with a goal assisted by Miller in the second half. Hall-Dale cut the lead to 3-2 when Nicole Pelletier scored on a penalty stroke late in the game.
Courtney Sprague made four saves in goal for MCI (6-9-0) while Molly French made 15 for Hall-Dale (6-8-1). MCI advances to play top-seeded Foxcroft Academy on Thursday.
