FARMINGDALE — Katie George scored two goals to lead No. 9 Maine Central Institute to a 3-2 win against No. 8 Hall-Dale in an Eastern Maine Class C field hockey tournament prelim game Saturday.

Shanay Gilbert gave the host Bulldogs a 1-0 lead with an unassisted goal eight minutes into the game. The Huskies came back for a pair of goals before the half, the first from Haley Tibbetts assisted by Cassie Miller. George made it 2-1 with Heidi Duncombe drawing the assist. George put MCI ahead 3-1 with a goal assisted by Miller in the second half. Hall-Dale cut the lead to 3-2 when Nicole Pelletier scored on a penalty stroke late in the game.

Courtney Sprague made four saves in goal for MCI (6-9-0) while Molly French made 15 for Hall-Dale (6-8-1). MCI advances to play top-seeded Foxcroft Academy on Thursday.

Girls soccer

Cony 2, Brewer  0: Hayley Quirion scored a goal and added an assist to lead the Rams to the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A win in Augusta. She scored early in the second half off an assist from Katelyn Bilodeau. Later in the half she assisted Emily Quirion’s goal.

Mikayla Henderson made 17 saves in goal for Brewer (1-11-1) while Autumn Sudsbury made five for Cony (7-5-1).

Football

Oak Hill 35, Traip 8: Kyle Flaherty rushed for 183 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Raiders to the Class D win in Kittery. Quarterback Dalton Therrien threw a 67-yard touchdown pass to Alex Mace and also rushed for a score. Ryan Stevens added a 60-yard interception return for a TD for the Raiders and Adam Merrill kicked all five extra points.

Oak Hill is 5-2, Traip is 1-6.
