FAIRFIELD — The owner of a Ford Mustang that was destroyed in a hit-and-run accident is offering a reward for information that could lead to the identification of the driver.

“If anybody knows anything, I hope they get in contact. If we find the guy, I hope he can get convicted,” said Joseph Jenness, 62, of Fairfield. He is offering a $250 reward for any information about the truck that struck his 2005 Ford Mustang on Norridgewock Road last week, or about the driver.

Police have identified one suspect in the accident, which took place in front of a squad car near an intersection with Old Schoolhouse Road, Fairfield police Chief Thomas Gould said. They are still looking for information, he said.

The truck, which police think was a Ford F-150 with an extended cab, drove off after hitting Jenness’ car from behind and sending it crashing into a tree.

Jenness said he was in shock and didn’t remember seeing the truck or who was driving it, although police were able to gather some information from another driver who witnessed the crash.

Jenness was uninjured and said he had insurance on the Mustang. He has a truck that he has been using to drive since then but said he doesn’t like the idea of a reckless driver getting away with causing an accident.

Fairfield police asked that anyone with information call them at 453-9321.
