Lawmakers just not listening to budget office

Every year around this time, the Congressional Budget Office issues a report about just how grim the nation’s long-term financial health is. A few lawmakers wring their hands and say they will get serious about fixing the problem, but then they don’t. We, as a nation, rush toward a debt-induced disaster if no one heeds the warning.

Octoberfest, car show set for Saturday

FAIRFIELD — Fall Octoberfest and car show is planned from 9 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Fairfeild Center Grange at the corner of Routes 139 and 104. The festival will feature crafts, homemade pickles, jellies, as well as a luncheon of hot dogs and other goodies.
