RINDGE, N.H. — Authorities say a leak in a refrigeration system at a New Hampshire food market has sent nine people complaining of dizziness and respiratory problems to three area hospitals.

Shift Lt. Tom Redin of the Southwestern New Hampshire District Fire Mutual Aid says the problem occurred Sunday night at the Market Basket on Route 202.

He says emergency officials were called around 6:10 p.m. and that a Hazmat team from Keene was sent to the scene to determine the cause of the air quality problem. Repairs are underway.

Nine people are being treated at hospitals and all are in stable condition, Redin said. Authorities originally said 10 were ill.

Ambulances from five other towns came to the scene and the victims were taken to hospitals in Keene, Peterborough and Gardner, Mass.
