SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — The Colby College women’s basketball team held Maine Maritime Academy to just 20.7 percent field goal shooting in a 55-29 victory in the consolation game of the Naismith Classic on Wednesday at Springfield College.
Hall-Dale graduate Carylanne Wolfington had 14 points, eight rebounds and three assists for the Mules (4-7) while Cony graduate Mia Diplock added nine points, five rebounds and three assists. Brooke Chandor chipped in with 10 points and five rebounds. Waterville graduate Jen Nale added eight points.
The Mariners were led by Desi Smith with eight points and five rebounds.
The Mules are back in action at 2 p.m. Saturday at home against the University of Maine at Farmington.
Green Bay 72, Maine 49: Megan Lukan had 12 points and 13 rebounds as Green Bay pulled away late for a 72-49 win over Maine in women’s basketball action Wednesday.
Breannah Ranger added 12 points and 11 rebounds for the Phoenix (7-5).
Maine (6-7) was led by Liz Wood with nine points and newcomer Cherrish Wallace with eight points and seven rebounds in her Black Bear debut.
Maine returns home to host Yale in men’s and women’s action beginning at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Cross Insurance Center.
