PORTLAND — A commercial jet that flew out of Philadelphia notified air traffic controllers at the Portland International Jetport on Monday afternoon that it was having problems with its landing gear, but jetport officials say the plane landed in Portland without any difficulty.

Jetport Director Paul Bradbury said US Airways’ flight 3722, which was carrying 50 passengers, notified the air traffic control tower about 3:54 p.m. that the aircraft’s warning lights were indicating there might be a problem with the plane’s landing gear.

Bradbury said the warning turned out to be a false alarm and the plane landed safely.

“It turned out to be a nonevent,” he said.
