WINTHROP — Taylor Morang scored 13 points and added seven assists and four steals to lead Winthrop to a 46-43 win against Madison in Mountain Valley Conference boys basketball action Wednesday night.

The Ramblers jumped out to a 13-6 first-quarter lead but never was able to shake the Bulldogs, who outscored them 16-14 in the fourth quarter. Matt Sekerak added 12 points for Winthrop (8-2) while Derek LeBlanc led Madison with nine points.

BOOTHBAY 56, HALL-DALE 44: Evan Hepburn scored seven of his game-high 19 points to open up a close game in the fourth quarter as the Seahawks pulled away for the MVC win in Boothbay.

Andrew Hallinan added 12 points for Boothbay (7-1) while Brian Allen and Bryson Camp scored 10 points each for Hall-Dale.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Kents Hill 30, Sacopee Valley 27: Sara Grenier scored 14 points, including two 3-pointers, to lead the Huskies to the Class C win in Hiram.

Emma Curnin added eight points for Kents Hill (4-1).

Dakota Minor scored eight points to lead Sacopee Valley (2-4).

Madison 61, Winthrop 17: Aly LeBlanc scored 16 points to lead the Bulldogs to the MVC win in Winthrop.

Cristie Vicneire added 14 points for Madison (6-3).

Winthrop (0-9) was led by Randi Dennett with six points.
