Augusta Police Department Chief Robert Gregoire, right, and Sgt. Christian Behr, center, hang a blue star beside the Augusta Police Department sign recently to honor patrolman and Air National Guard Staff Sgt. Brad Chase, left, who will deploy with the 101st Security Forces Squadron later this year. A brief ceremony was attended by Brig. Gen. Gerald Bolduc, commander of Maine Air National Guard, and Col. Eric Lind, director of staff, Maine Air National Guard. Behr and Gregoire each spoke to those in attendance. “He will be missed. He keeps things lively and always gets us laughing first thing in the day. He is an asset to this department,” Gregoire said at the ceremony. Chase joined the department in 2011. The star was hung as a sign of unity for the service member and his police department family.
