AUGUSTA — City police are asking the public to help locate a man wanted on charges of robbery, domestic violence assault and obstructing report of a crime.
Augusta Police Lt. Christopher Reed said Benjamin Robert Beland, 33, of Augusta is being sought in connection with those charges after an investigation following a report at 6:20 p.m. Tuesday of a domestic disturbance at Capital Village, Hope Way.
Reed said on Wednesday that he did not want to provide more details about the event.
“We don’t want to jeopardize prosecution of the case,” he said. However, he said the robbery did not involve weapons.
Published reports from September 2011 show Beland was sentenced to nine months in jail concurrent to a probation revocation and fined $2,500 after being convicted of operating after revocation.
He was also arrested in Augusta in November on a warrant after police responded to a report of a domestic disturbance on Leighton Road.
Augusta police ask anyone with information on Beland to call 626-2370.
