Winter Carnival and Ice Fishing Derby set for Feb. 1

SKOWHEGAN — Lake George Regional Park will host its annual Winter Carnival and Ice Fishing Derby Saturday, Feb. 1.

The fishing derby entry fee is $5. Prizes valued at more than $1,000 will be awarded. Those who register will be.

ALL THAT R be eligible to win a new auger. Early registration is set for 3-6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31. Registration opens at 5 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1.

Carnival events on the East side of the park are skiing and snowshoeing on groomed trails.

West side events include: stew cook off judging at 11 a.m. ($5 entry fee — the stew must be in a pot that can be warmed on wood fire), disc golf, snow sculpting, sled box derby (sign up at 9:30 a.m., judging at 10 a.m.), marshmallow roast at 11 a.m.

Refreshments will be available for sale by the local Boy Scout Troop.
