The decision to not accept federal funds to expand health care access to all Mainers is not only mean-spirited, it is shortsighted.
The poor will continue to use emergency rooms as their only means of accessing health care, only they will wait until their condition is acute. It will cost more than it would have if they had simply visited a doctor. and the taxpayers will pick up the tab anyway.
