BINGHAM — A surveillance image of the man who robbed the Camden National Bank in Bingham with a hammer last week was released Thursday by the Somerset County Sheriff’s Department.

Police said they continue to investigate the bank robbery that took place around 11:15 a.m. last Friday.

The man in the surveillance image is heavyset, wearing a black ski mask and light gray sweatshirt. He took an undisclosed amount of cash after threatening the teller with a hammer, police said.

Detectives are continuing to review surveillance tapes from the bank and other downtown businesses as well as interview possible witnesses, according to a press release from Deputy Chief Dale Lancaster of sheriff’s department.

The robber fled the bank on foot before escaping in a vehicle parked a few blocks away, according to Lancaster. Police do not believe the robbery was connected to another hammer robbery that took place in Clinton on Saturday. Jeremy Holt, of Clinton, was arrested shortly after that robbery.

The Somerset County Sheriff’s Department ask anyone with information about the robbery call the detective division at 207-474-9591 or the tip line at 207-474-0230. Individuals with information can also email the Somerset County Sheriff’s Department at [email protected].
