AUGUSTA — Maine’s labor department is introducing new measures for the 2014 legislative session.

The bills introduced by the Department of Labor include a measure that seeks to expand the areas where minors are allowed to work under Maine law to include places like bowling alleys and movie theaters to conform to federal law.

Among the other bills introduced by the department is one that seeks to streamline the process for drug-testing in the workplace. The department says the bill would create a single, consistent model for employers to establish drug-free policies in the workplace.

The six bills submitted by the department will have public hearings later this month and in early February.
