Detail: Davis is the first black athlete to win a gold medal in an individual sport in the Winter Olympic Games. He won the gold in the 1,000 speedskating event in the 2006 Olympics. He also won the silver medal in the 1,500 meter even in the games. He followed that performance by winning gold in the same events in the 2010 Olympic Games.
