WATERVILLE — A Waterville man arrested Monday after a police officer found him parked in a car off Water Street with three 15-year-old girls, marijuana, switchblades and prescription drugs, will head to court next month.

George Garcia, 22, of 67 Drummond Ave., was charged with unlawful possession of drugs, trafficking in dangerous knives and civil possession of marijuana, according to Deputy Chief Charles Rumsey.

Rumsey said Tuesday that Officer Andrew McMullen saw a vehicle parked around 5:50 p.m. Monday on the dead-end portion of Water Street that runs by a boat landing and a ballfield. A sign in the area says no unauthorized vehicles are to be there after 5 p.m., he said.

McMullen noticed the windows of the vehicle were fogged over. He parked his cruiser behind it, and when he approached Garcia, he detected a strong odor of recently burned marijuana, Rumsey said.

He said McMullen searched the car and its occupants and found about 3.5 grams of marijuana, 26 Flexeril pills, two amphetamine pills, eight Ritalin pills and two switchblade knives, which are illegal.

Garcia was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of scheduled drugs. He was summoned and charged with trafficking dangerous knives, civil possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia and released on unsecured bail.

Garcia is scheduled to appear April 8 in Waterville District Court, he said.

The three girls, one of whom is Garcia’s cousin, were released at the scene and left the area on their own, according to Rumsey. He said the girls did not appear to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs, nor did they possess any. They were not charged in the incident, he said.

Garcia was convicted of criminal mischief in 2010. In 2011, he was convicted of criminal mischief and violation of conditions of release, according to Rumsey.
