SKOWHEGAN — The following winter events are planned.

• Great Maine Outdoor Weekend is set for 11 a.m. Saturday at Lake George Regional Park. The event includes a snowshoe hike and a cookout.

• There will be a limited number of snowshoes available on a first-come first-serve basis. Shoeshoes can be signed out at the community center during regular business hours.

• After a short hike participants can roast hot dogs on the grill. This is a free event.

• Tubing Day is set for 6-9 p.m. Sunday at Eaton Mountain. Tickets cost $5. Participants must register at the Skowhegan Community Center; space is limited.

• The Skowhegan Fire Department vs. Skowhegan EMS basketball fundraiser is set for 6 p.m. Sunday at the Community Center. Admission is free, but voluntary donations will be accepted. Concession will be available.

• Ice Rink Fun Day is planned for 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, at the ice rink located at the Skowhegan Fairgrounds. Skates will not be provided. Participants can toast marshmallows, hot dogs and enjoy a cup of hot chocolate by a fire. Broom ball game with boots is set for 1:30 p.m.; all ages welcome. Use the Beech Street entrance.

• Saddleback ski/snowboard trip is set for Sunday, Feb. 23. The bus departs the Community Center at 8 a.m. and returns at approximately 5 p.m. Tickets cost $30 per skier, which includes transportation, one all-day lift ticket, and recreation staff supervision. Bring skis or snowboard equipment. Rentals are available for an additional cost. Bring a helmet, warm clothes, and a bag lunch or money for the snack bar. Register at the Skowhegan Community Center.

• March Mayhem Basketball Round Robin is set for 9 a.m. Sunday, March 2, at the Skowhegan Community Center. The all-day event is a fundraiser for the new sports complex. Enter your team today.

• Saddleback ski/snowboard trip is set for Sunday, March 9. The bus will depart at 8 a.m. and will return at approximately 5 p.m. Cost is $30 per skier, which includes transportation, an all-day lift ticket, and recreation staff supervision. Bring skis or snowboard equipment, a helmet, warm clothes, and a bag lunch or money for the snack bar. Rentals are available for an extra cost. Register at the Skowhegan Community Center.

• Bigfoot Overnight Snowshoe and Cross-Country ski trip is set for March 16. The bus will depart the Community Center at 8 a.m. March 16 and return at approximately 5 p.m. March 17. Cross country skis are available to use .

Experience winter as the group will hike or ski on the Maine Hut & Trail System to the Flagstaff Hut, and spend the night. A $49 fee includes all meals, lodging and bus transportation. Register at the Skowhegan Community Center.
