MEDFORD, Mass. — The Colby College women’s basketball team held fourth-ranked Tufts to just 22 points in the first half but the Jumbos bounced back in the second half to post a 54-33 win in New England Small College Athletic Conference action Friday.

Michella North led Tufts (22-1 overall, 9-0 NESCAC) with 15 points while Hayley Kanner scored 14. Gabe Donahue led Colby (7-16, 1-8) with 10 points and five rebounds while Conygraduate Mia Diplock added seven points and three assists.

CASTLETON ST. 83, THOMAS 43: Jade Desroches scored 21 points and Meghan O’Sullivan added 16 to lead the Spartans to the North Atlantic Conference win in Waterville.

Gardiner graduate Katie McAllister led the Terriers (3-19 overall, 3-12 NAC) with 14 points. Castleton improves to 20-3 (15-1) on the season.

SKIING

Colby College’s Mardi Haskell had her fifth top 10 of the season and her best finish in her young collegiate career by taking third place in the slalom at the Williams Carnival on Friday at Jiminy Peak in Hancock, Mass..

The Colby women finished in third place with 99 points and just missed tying Dartmouth College (100) for second. University of Vermont was first with a score of 134 and University of New Hampshire was just one point back of Colby with 98.

In the team standings with alpine and Nordic combined, Colby stands in third place with 307 points and is in first place among NESCAC schools. Williams and Middlebury are 15 points back in a tie for fourth. The Colby men, led by a 19th from Craig Marshall, finished in sixth place and were just one point out of fifth.
