A magazine has named Scarborough one of the nation’s 10 happiest seaside towns.
The designation appears in the March issue of Coastal Living magazine, which hit newsstands Friday. An online vote will determine an overall winner.
Other finalists are Bolinas, Calif.; Captiva Island, Fla.; Chincoteague, Va., Haleiwa, Hawaii; Provincetown, Mass.; Saugatuck, Mich.; St. Augustine, Fla.; St. Simons Island, Ga.; and Watch Hill, R.I.
Among the many factors for the top 10 designation included crime rates, standards of living, the percentage of sunny days and commute times.
Voting is open through March 31 on the magazine’s website . The results will appear in the magazine this summer.
