The Maine Conservation Corps recently welcomed James Thomas, of Fairfield, to serve as a Veteran Community Leader and AmeriCorps volunteer for a 45-week, 1,700-hour term of national service. Thomas is the son of Dave and Julie Thomas, of Fairfield. The MCC conducts conservation projects throughout the State, including extensive recreational trail construction and rehabilitation. Thomas is a 1980 graduate of Lawrence High School and is a 2013 graduate of the International Sports Sciences Association College with an Exercise Science degree. Thomas served in the U.S. Marine Corps for four years, through the rank of Corporal, as an administrator in a helicopter pilot training squadron. Thomas will be hosted by the Kennebec Estuary Land Trust for his term of national service.
