BANGOR — Bangor police say they have launched a criminal investigation into the death of a 5-month-old child.

Police say the baby died Wednesday at Eastern Maine Medical Center.

Sgt. Catherine Rumsey said in a statement that the department’s Criminal Investigations Division is looking into the death.

An autopsy is scheduled to determine the cause.

No additional details were immediately released.
