WINTHROP — Police say a sweatshirt worn by the man who robbed the Circle K convenience store Tuesday advertises a bar in Lewiston.

Winthrop Police Detective Peter Struck said the zip-front sweatshirt with a hood, which was emblazoned with the words “Support the Twins,” advertises the Irish Twins Pub at 743 Main St. in Lewiston. The pub shares a parking lot with a convenience store, Subway restaurant and other businesses across from Marden’s. Struck believes the robber may have visited the bar and may be familiar to others who have been there.

Struck said Thursday that he continues to receive information about the robbery and follow leads, but so far none of that information has led to charges.

Police said the robbery occurred at 3:29 a.m. at the store on Main Street in Winthrop when a man showed a handgun and demanded money from the cashier.

Police have described the robber as a white male with brown eyes in his early 20s who is between 5-foot-7 and 6 feet tall. He wore a white mask, a dark hoodie with the “Support the Twins” logo on the back, bright green pajama bottoms and white sneakers.

The man fled on foot with an unspecified amount of cash.

Nobody was injured during the holdup.

Struck asks that anyone who can help identify the robber is asked to call him or Winthrop Police Chief Joseph Young Sr. at 377-7227.
