Sustain Mid Maine Coalition is proud to be a part of Climate Solutions Expo and Summit, a gathering of organizations whose members are concerned about climate change.

Climate Solutions Expo will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Augusta Civic Center. Organizers invite people to “become part of the solution at this one-day event for the climate.”

Often in my role as coordinator of Sustain Mid Maine Coalition, I meet people who wonder what they as individuals can do about climate change. Most understand the need for changes but are unsure about the challenges and opportunities associated with climate adaptation. These people are concerned about what the potential new climate will look like and what effects it will have on their town’s infrastructure. Some are worried about energy production.

This event will provide information and practical suggestions to help people make better choices now, so as to benefit the future. It is rare to find so many environmental groups in one place at one time. Through exhibits and displays from various organizations such as Sustain Mid Maine Coalition, individuals can find answers to help them prepare for the changes that will occur.

Speakers will provide information about various climate-related topics, and panelists will sharing their wisdom and experience.

All of this is free and open to the public.

Along with the expo, a summit will include leaders from across Maine working together with participants to consider climate-related public policy initiatives. Registration for the summit is required.
