I have spent a great deal of time trying to get a post office or at least a ZIP code for the town of Benton.
Benton used to have two post offices; now we have none.
Benton now has the same 04901 ZIP code as Waterville. Our mail may end up who knows where. Much of the mail we receive contains personal information, such as Social Security number, date of birth, telephone number and address. This information being delivered to whom it may concern is not acceptable.
I would like to also commend the Waterville Post Office for correcting a bad delivery situation. The mail service has improved greatly.
Sometimes, however, when a delivery person looks for an address in Benton but the ZIP code is Waterville’s, our mail gets returned to sender.
This may be part of the reason why the US Postal Service is losing billions of dollars.
