WATERVILLE — The first Kennebec Dream Launch contest has been planned. The event is a business plan pitch contest open to residents of Kennebec, Somerset and western Waldo counties and is designed to enable entrepreneurs to jump-start their dream businesses. Submissions can include ideas for a new business, a new location for a business that is currently in another region, or expansion of a current business with a new business concept. One winner will receive a package worth more than $3,000, including legal services, a media/marketing package, website design services, signage, a one-year membership to the Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce, and a cash prize provided by Skowhegan Savings Bank.

The contest is a two-round competition. During the first round, interested entrepreneurs will submit a completed business plan by Friday, March 28. Up to six finalists will be chosen to compete in the final round on Monday, April 14, where they will pitch their idea in front of a panel of local expert judges. The judges will choose a winner, who will receive the tools and assistance to help launch their dream business.

The contest is sponsored by KVCOG Mobilize Kennebec Valley Innovation/Entrepreneur Action Team along with several other area organizations including Waterville Main Street, Mid Maine Chamber of Commerce, Small Business Development Centers and the Small Business Administration.

Interested entrepreneurs can find more information and the Kennebec Dream Launch program statement at kvcog.org or call Sarah Ross, KVCOG executive assistant, at 453-4258, ext. 223.
