GORHAM —The University of Southern Maine pounded out 17 hits en route to a 12-1 win against Colby in non-conference action Wednesday at Tower Field. Paul McDonough led the Huskies with four hits and three RBIs while Chris Bernard, John Carey. Matt Verrier and Messalonskee graduate Sam Dexter each had a pair of hits. Kevin Galvin led the Mules with two hits while Jason Buco and Soren Hanson each tripled. Southern Maine is 15-6, Colby is 10-5.

HUSSON 6-10, THOMAS 0-0: In Bangor, the Eagles blanked the Terriers in sweeping a North Atlantic Conference doubleheader. Tim Nason scattered five hits to lead the Eagles to a win in the first game, Pat Thibodeau had three hits for the winners while Cody McInnis scored three runs and Waterville graduate Kyle Bishop doubled and scored a run. Waterville gradaute Tim Locke had a pair of hits for the Terriers. In Game 2, Waterville graduate Josh Gaudette tripled and drove in three runs while Bishop added two hits and two RBIs and Mesalonskee grad Dylan Foster added two hits. Husson is 10-8 overall and 7-4 in NAC play while Thomas is 4-14, 3-3. Joe Quinlin had a pair of hits for the Terriers.

WOMEN’S LACROSSE

USM 24, UMF 4; The Huskies set a team record with 24 goals in non-conference action in Gorham, Rosie Foster, Sam Campobassim Jenna Cyr, Shelby Turcotte and Sarah Pelligrinelli each scored three goals for Southern Maine Jaclyn Langevin scored two goals for UMaine-Farmington (2-7) while Mara Balboni and Ayla Allen scored one each.
