Two Kingfield men are charged with supplying alcohol to a pair of teenagers who crashed a car last week.
Decodah Brown and Christopher McLaughlin were summoned Monday on misdemeanor charges for allegedly giving the teenagers alcohol and a place to drink it.
Brown is charged with class D furnishing a place for minors to consume alcohol, and McLaughlin is charged with class D furnishing liquor to a minor and class E violating a condition of release.
McLaughlin was arrested Friday by Detective Ken Charles on an unrelated warrant and was summoned from jail.
The teenagers crashed their car at 1 a.m. Thursday on Carrabassett Drive in Kingfield when they were driving along a turn known as “Oh my gosh” corner because of the view from the road.
Both men are set to be arraigned in Farmington District Court on June 6.
The Carrabassett Valley Police initially responded and asked for help in the investigation after learning the alcohol was consumed in Kingfield and New Portland. The Somerset County Sheriff’s office is also conducting its own investigation.
