BELFAST — A Winterport man has been sentenced to nine months in jail for sexually abusing a child.

David Hyatt was sentenced this week in Waldo County Superior Court to serve nine months of a six-year sentence and 12 years of probation. The 74-year-old Hyatt pleaded guilty last week to unlawful sexual contact and one count of visual sexual aggression.

The district attorney’s office tells WABI-TV the male victim was 7 years old when the abuse began in 2006, and 11 when it ended.

The crimes occurred at Hyatt’s home in Winterport.
