WINTHROP — Cat Ouellette hit a three-run homer with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning to give Winthrop a dramatic 3-2 victory over Telstar in Mountain Valley Conference softball action Friday afternoon.

Ouellette’s home run cleared the fence in left-center field, and Winthrop coach Bob Ouellette estimated the drive at 220 feet.

“The school’s beeen there since ‘03, and to the best of my knowledge, there’s never been a home run hit over the fence,” Coach Ouellette said. “I know there hasn’t been one in the last seven years.”

There were a total of four hits between the two teams, as Winthrop’s Krissy Doughty threw a one-hitter with 15 strikeouts, and Telstar’s Jessica Dirago allowed three hits and struck out 14.

Cat Ouellette had all three hits for Winthrop (2-0), as she doubled twice in addition to her home run. Hayley Peterson singled for Telstar (2-1).

In the bottom of the seventh, Winthrop trailed 2-0 when Tessie Moody led off with a walk. One out later, Lily Ouellette also walked. A groundout moved the runners to second and third, and Cat Ouellette followed with her home run.

CONY 14, LAWRENCE 1, 5 innings: Olivia Deeves had two hits — a double and a triple — to lead the Rams to a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A win in Fairfield.

Arika Brochu collected two hits while earning the win in the circle for Cony (4-0). Maggie Russell and Michayla Dostie each had two hits for the Rams, while Kassidy Turgeon had three hits.

Audri Fortier had a double for Lawrence (1-3).

HALL-DALE 6, DIRIGO 3: Morgan Rush had a two-run single in the first inning and the Bulldogs held off Dirigo to grab the MVC victory.

Emily Maynard and Eva Shepherd each two singles for Hall-Dale (3-2).

Dirigo dropped to 2-2.

MORSE 8, ERSKINE 6: Kaitlyn Sutter smacked two doubles, but it wasn’t enough for the Eagles, who fell to the Shipbuilders in Bath.

Mallory Chamberlain struck out seven batters, while Amber Grady had three hits for Erskine (0-4).

Morse improves to 2-2.

GARDINER 10, MT. VIEW 0: Brittany Rollins pitched a three-hitter and Katelyn Boyington belted a three-run homer to lead the unbeaten Tigers to the KVAC B win in Gardiner. Boyington also singled while Mary Toman doubled and singled, and Julia Nadeau and Morgan Carver each singled twice. Rollins allowed three hits, walked one and struck out seven. Gardine is 4-0, Mt. View is 0-4.

OAK HILL 22, CARRABEC 3, 5 innings: The Raiders scored 15 runs in the second inning en route to the MVC win in Wales. Sadie Goulet had four hits for Oak Hill (1-4) and recored six strikeouts on the mound. Grace Sabine doubled, singled and drove in five runs while teammate Emma Hisler had three hits and Kayla Veilleux and Brooke Surette two hits each. Baylee Atwood tripled for Carrabec (2-1).

WINTHROP 13, TELSTAR 2: Zach Steele went 3 for 3 with three RBIs and Ben Allen had a two-run double as the Ramblers cruised to the MVC victory.

Winthrop (2-1) scored seven in the first inning to put the game away.

Chris Chappie had a double for Telstar (0-3).

MORSE 7, ESRKINE 1: The Shipbuilders took advantage of five Erskine errors en route to the KVAC B win in Bath. Ryan Rodrigue doubled twice for Erskine (1-3) while Nate Martin drove in a run. Morse is 3-1.

LAWRENCE 8, CONY 1: Derek Bowen had two doubles and three RBIs, while Joe LeClair had two doubles and two RBIs in the Bulldogs’ KVAC A win in Fairfield.

Spencer Folsom had two singles and an RBI for Lawrence (2-2). Cole Robinson earned the win on the mound for the Bulldogs, striking out seven in five innings of work.

Charlie Hallak and Connor Perry each hit doubles for Cony (0-4).

MARANACOOK 7, MCI 0: Freshman Max McQuillan threw a one-hitter, walking one and striking out seven, to lead the Black Bears to the KVAC B win in Readfield.

Connor Ireland had two hits for Maranacook (3-2).

Charles Moriarty had the MCI (0-5) hit, a single in the third inning.

MT. VIEW 5, GARDINER 1: Kenny McGray pitched a three-hitter to lead the Mustangs to the KVAC B win in Thorndike.

David Clark had three singles, an RBI and scored two runs for Mt. View (2-3) while Erik Larrabee had two singles and an RBI.

Logan Peacock, Nic Berube and Josh Mashke each singled for Gardiner (1-3).

OAK HILL 5, CARRABEC 4: Brady Dion had three singles and an RBI to lead the Raiders in Wales.

Jonah Martin added two singles for Oak Hill (4-1).

Will Crawford had two singles for Carrabec (1-2).
