AUGUSTA — With rain expected for Saturday, many of the dates and locations have changed for the state singles tournament qualifying round.
Most players from central Maine schools will play in Region 3. The boys qualifying round will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday at the A-Copi Tennis and Sports Center on the Leighton Road in Augusta. Waterville’s Zach Disch is the No. 3 seed. Skowhegan’s Devin Lachapelle is seventh and Cony’s Chase Whittier is eighth. Waterville’s Adrian Rivas, Gardiner’s Liang Lin, and Messalonskee’s James Kouletsis and Thomas Luce also received first-round byes on Saturday
The Region 3 girls tournament has been rescheduled for 9 a.m. Tuesday at Mt. Ararat High School.
The Region 4 girls tournament was moved indoors at Bates College, beginning at 9 a.m. Tuesday. The Region 4 boys tournament is now 9 a.m. on Tuesday at Lewiston High School.
The state singles championships are still scheduled for May 30 and 31 at Colby College, with the semifinals and finals June 2 at Bates College.
