Painter Alex Katz will speak at a Portland hotel in June at an event hosted by the Portland Museum of Art.

The event is already sold out.

Katz, who divides his time between New York City and Lincolnville, Maine, will speak at the Westin Portland Harborview Hotel on June 11 at 6 p.m.

Katz has had a connection to Maine since he received a scholarship to attend the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in 1949.

He was awarded the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Fellowship for Painting in 1972 and was inducted into the American Academy of Arts and Letters in 1988.

Tickets for the event went on sale Friday and the museum reported that they quickly sold out.
