WATERVILLE — Nancy DeRoche, HVWA Resale Shop volunteer, was recently chosen by Hospice Volunteers of Waterville Area for her involvement and support of HVWA’s Resale Shop. DeRoche, along with many other community heroes, was honored at the MICAH Dinner sponsored by the Kennebec Valley Organization held at the Winslow VFW.

DeRoche has been a HVWA volunteer since November 2012 and has logged more than 250 hours in the resale shop. When DeRoche came to Hospice in November, the Resale Shop had been opened for six months and organizers were still trying to figure out how to manage the merchandise. DeRochey decided she was up to the task and started staging “our gently worn treasures” like high-end merchandise.

Recently, DeRoche participated in the HVWA Direct Care training and is now certified by the state to provide compassionate non-medical care and support to individuals and their families during the last phases of life.

DeRoche lives in Benton with her husband Gilbert. She has three children and eight grandchildren. She worked as personnel director for Eastland Woolen Mill in Corinna for 15 years.
