AUGUSTA — Police are looking for three men they believe knocked down a woman late Thursday night and stole her money.
Augusta police Sgt. Vicente Morris said the robbery was reported shortly before 11:30 p.m. Thursday after a woman walking on Mount Vernon Avenue was assaulted by three men. The men approached the woman near Cumberland Farms, where one pushed her down and rifled through her purse. The men did not display a weapon, Morris said.
The woman complained of pain but did not require hospitalization.
A few minutes after the woman was attacked, a man riding a bicycle nearby was stopped when a man stepped in front of him. A third man hit the bicycle rider on the back of the head, Morris said.
“He was able to flee on his bike,” Morris said.
Morris said the investigation is ongoing. He said police have leads they are following and have identified potential suspects.
“We believe they were related,” Morris said.
