WEST BOOTHBAY HARBOR — The Maine State Aquarium in West Boothbay Harbor is opening for the season.
The aquarium opens 10 a.m. Saturday and will remain open until Sept. 28. It will be open seven days a week through August and then closed on Mondays and Tuesdays in September.
The museum is operated by the state Department of Marine Resources and has a main gallery area that resembles Maine’s rocky coast. It also includes interactive displays such as touchtanks.
This is the aquarium’s 20th season. State employees are allowed free admission this Saturday and Sunday, June 7-8 and June 21-22. Admission for other adults is $5; seniors and children age three to 12 are $3; children two and under are admitted free.
